Search & Track 1- Taught by Rebecca Young

Our Search & Track classes take a dog’s natural urge to find objects or prey for rewards. This class is a great way to begin your dog’s search and rescue career to find people, other animals, or the keys you keep seeming to misplace. Teaching a dog to search can give them a mental and physical activity which will build confidence, increase their focus on their handler, and give them a healthy outlet by using their very talented nose!

In Search & Track 1, we will go over cues such as “Find it”, “Speak”, “Quiet” and “Touch”. We will be working on behavior skills like neutral dog, impulse control, and settle. Your dog will learn how to alert you when they find an object inside an enclosed container, and how to track scent through simple courses.

Each session will be tailored to class needs and desires. Our classes are structured so students are taught a new skill, given time to practice under the guidance of our instructor and then fun games are used to practice the skills. Additional skills and tricks may be taught as time permits.
