Onion Creek Kennels welcomes you to tour our facility.

Each kennel run is 4 X 6 feet on the inside and 4 X 8 feet on the outside to give plenty of room to your pet (s).

We offer indoor/outdoor runs and some house pets inside, but utilize outside exercise areas for all dogs on a regular basis.  Each of these designs has its own advantages, and you should ask us to explain the advantages of the different habitats.

Each Main Building Run includes a 4 feet by 6 feet inside run and a 4 feet by 8 feet run.  There is an opening between the inside and outside run that stays open during the day.  We do close the walkway door at the end of the day, keeping your pet safely inside at night.  The inside run is climate controlled and the outside run is covered and provided with large ventilation fans to keep your pet comfortable.  Each pet housed in this setting will be guaranteed exercise in one of our play yards twice daily.. first thing in the morning and again in late afternoon.  If your pet requires more exercise, please ask us about our T.L.C. Program.

Our housed pets are provided with an enclosure that measures at least 40 inches in length x 28 inches in width and 30 inches in height.  We prefer to only board dogs under 30 lbs in this setting and ONLY if your pet is crate trained and comfortable in such habitat.  Each pet housed in this setting will be guaranteed exercise outside 5 times daily....before and after breakfast, before and after dinner and again between 8:00pm-10:00pm.

We offer exercise areas for our groominging guests too! Each paddock is 4 feet by 13 feet.    Each outside run is 4 feet by 8 feet long.

The following items are provided for the comfort of your pet:

Sasha taking a break after playing with one of our cert. pet care technicians    Carrie relaxing in the Texas Blue Bonnets    Tucker enjoying his bubble bath.    A happy camper resting comfortably on his PetCot, offered to all of our boarding guests.

Climate control:  The kennel maintains temperatures within healthful, comfortable limits for your pets. If you have an older pet, or a pet that requires warmer or cooler accommodations than are normally provided, special arrangements can be made.

Protection from the elements: Our indoor/outdoor facility provides shelter from wind, rain, and direct sunlight.

Ventilation: Good ventilation helps minimize the spread of airborne bacteria and viruses.

Cleanliness:  Our kennel is kept free of dirt, fecal accumulation, odors and parasite infestation.  We have a strict schedule of disinfecting with effective chemicals.

Light: Skylights within the indoor kennels allows your pet natural lighting for comfort during the day.

Bedding: We will provide your pet with a Pet Cot. The Pet Cot dog bed helps prevent joint-related difficulties and cuts down on elbow calluses. It is beneficial for arthritic and geriatric pets. The Pet Cot dog bed evenly supports your Pet unlike the filled beds that can clump and become uneven. The dimensions of the Pet Cot we provide is 39" x 28" x 5".

PetCot Dog Beds

You may also bring bedding from home that can be labeled and washed daily if needed.

Exercise:  All pets are exercised at least twice daily in large paddocks that measure 24 feet by 15 feet, allowing them to freely play and romp around.  Each paddock offers a "puppy" swimming pool and other fun toys to play with.

Extra Playtime:  We do offer additional playtime.  The cost is $5.00 per additional 15-20 minute play session.  Ask about our T.L.C. Program for more details.

Night Check Attendants:  One of our certified pet care technicians arrives each night, between 9-10 p.m., to tuck our campers in.  Extra late night playtime is a must for the spoiled campers!  Management also lives on premises.

Safety Measures:  Our kennels are designed to safely board your pets.  If your dog is a climber or digger, please alert our staff so that extra precautions can be taken.  Each run includes solid dividers between your pet and the other boarders, both for reasons of safety and so that your pet will be able to relax and sleep without feeling challenged by his or her neighbors.

Food/Water:  Our kennel supplies a premium meal, currently Pedigree dry kibble, which we serve to all boarders.  However, if your pet is on a special diet,  please provide enough for your pets stay.  Fresh drinking water is available to each animal at all times.

Veterinary services:  In case medical attention is needed, we will use your veterinarian. If your regular veterinarian is not available, we will transport your pet to our choice 24-hour veterinary hospital, Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic, 3710 Hwy 290, Dripping Springs, Texas  78610. (512)894-0266.

Immunization requirements: Dogs are required to be currently vaccinated for Rabies and DHLPP.  The Bordetella vaccine, also referred to as Canine Cough, must be current within the last six months. The Bordetella vaccine should be administered at least one week prior to the anticipated boarding date for maximum effect.  The most current receipt from your veterinarian may be faxed to our office at any time to (512)295-8065.  Otherwise, current vaccination records must be present upon arrival.

All pets arriving must be in good health with vaccination records current.

Medication policies and procedures: Medications can be administered provided that it is clearly labeled by your pets' regular veterinarian with instructions.  We also provide services for those who require inject-able medication.  Each medication is charged $.50 per administration.  Inject-able medications are charged $1.00 per administration.
